From reporting in Atlanta to Chicago to Washington, D.C., Hannah Gebresilassie is determined to leave her mark in the world through journalism and storytelling. In July 2017, she joined the WSIL-TV team in southern Illinois as a general assignment reporter. Previously, she worked as a Fox 5 Atlanta News Trainee, where she field produced and wrote for Good Day Atlanta, as well as contributed content for digital platforms. Hannah enjoys telling human interest stories, especially on individuals and communities overcoming long odds, as well as stories on culture, social issues, sports, politics, health and more. She earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Georgia Tech and master's in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. The proud first generation Ethiopian-Eritrean American was selected to represent Medill's MSJ class of 2016 and had the honor of speaking at graduation. The Atlanta native is devoted to serving and mentoring the youth, as a beneficiary of the same support throughout her journey.
